Unlocking Adventure, Imagination & Well-being Every Day

At Plat Douet School, we believe that play is just as important as learning. That’s why we’ve created a rich outdoor environment where children can explore, move, create and enjoy their childhood to the fullest.

We’re proud to offer a variety of exciting outdoor activities, including:

    • Sand pits for digging, building and imaginative play
    • Scooters to help children stay active and enjoy movement
    • Tree climbing to build confidence, resilience and a love of nature

    Why Outdoor Play Matters

    Better Focus in Class
We’ve found that when children have high-quality play opportunities, they come back to the classroom more settled, focused, and ready to learn.

    Happy, Healthy Pupils
Outdoor play helps children develop physically, emotionally and socially. It also supports mental health, reduces stress and promotes well-being.

    Life Skills for the Future
Whether they’re negotiating turn-taking on scooters or working together to build in the sand, children develop problem-solving, creativity and teamwork in our play spaces.

Our approach is influenced by the Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) Primary Programme. Like OPAL, we believe every child has the right to play in an environment that is rich, varied, and inclusive.

A Typical Day at Playtime Might Include...

    • Zooming around on scooters
    • Digging deep tunnels in the sand
    • Creating obstacle courses or dens
    • Climbing trees safely with friends
    • Dressing up and acting out stories
    • Balancing, building, running and laughing

At Plat Douet, Play is Serious Business

We see play as a vital part of each child’s development—not just something for break time. It helps shape confident, curious learners who are ready to take on the world
