Rights Respecting

In 2023, Plat Douet School achieved the Rights Respecting School Silver Award.  This was awarded to our school community by UNICEF UK as we showed that we are committed to creating a safe and inspiring place to learn, where children are respected, nurtured and able to thrive.

Silver: Rights Aware is the second stage of the Rights Respecting Schools Award.

We are on our journey towards Gold now and working to further embed the rights of the child throughout our policies, practice and whole school ethos

The UNCRC, or United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, is an international agreement that protects the rights of all children under the age of 18. It was adopted by the United Nations in 1989 and is one of the most widely ratified human rights treaties in the world.

· It sets out 54 articles that cover all aspects of a child’s life.

· It explains how adults and governments must work together to make sure all children can enjoy their rights.
