Safeguarding – Keeping Children Safe at Plat Douet School
At Plat Douet, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where every child feels happy, secure and supported.
All children have the right to be protected from harm. We work together to ensure that all members of our school community – staff, parents, carers, governors and volunteers – understand their role in keeping children safe. We follow the guidance set out in Keeping Children Safe in Education in Jersey (2024), and work closely with the Jersey Safeguarding Partnership Board (JSPB) and other key agencies.
Our Commitment
We take a proactive and preventative approach to safeguarding. This means:
We also teach children how to keep themselves safe – in school, online and in the wider community – through our curriculum and wider school life.
Our Safeguarding Team
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is: Miss Lauren Achler
Our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead(s) are: Mrs Jessica Cantell & Mrs Janice Mitchell
All staff, including supply and temporary staff, receive regular safeguarding training, and are aware of the signs of abuse and how to report concerns. Visitors to the school are also informed of our safeguarding procedures.
